Choosing A Performer Buyer's Guide
Here at The BO BO Show, we have compiled a buyer's guide on how to avoid the most common mistakes made when hiring entertainment for children. If you have any questions after you have read this guide, please feel free to contact us and we will help you!
- Will they present entertainment that you could do yourself? Does the company you call want to provide, games, crafts, pre-recorded music, storytelling, and other things of this simple nature? If that's the case you could do the show yourself and save all the money you're spending on a performer. You will be happier with an entertainer who is a professional magician, or who provides juggling, or live music, and other skills that you couldn't do on your own.
- Yes the base price is important. But what are you getting for that amount? Most companies only pay their performers 25% or less of what is being charged. What motivation does that performer have to show up on time and do a good job for you? What you should look for is a performer who is getting 75-100% of what you are paying.
- How much experience does your potential entertainer have? It doesn't matter one iota how long the entertainment company has been around; If your performer has limited experience, little training, and their greatest claim to entertaining is that they can put on a costume, then you will not have a successful show. It would be better to get a performer whose been performing professionally since 1986, who has trained with top national professionals and who guarantees their work.
- Is there a difference between performers and costumed characters? Yes! It is difficult to engage kids from the inside of a big headed costume like the purple dinosaur, or a Muppet, or a Disney character. Once they've said hello to everyone, can they go on to juggle, or do real, quality magic? Also, many of the places that offer characters like that have to do so illegally. If the company you call doesn't have the character by its proper name, then they haven't purchased the license to use the real costume. If they are using a substitute then they are law breakers.
- Is the entertainment you have planned convenient? Ask yourself which is easier: have the entertainer come to you, or... pack up all the kids, haul them over to a Circus-Circus/Kid Zone type place, pay a lot for the store's services, and yet never get any live entertainment. Kids have too much of their time eaten up by such impersonal entertainment such as T.V., video games and movies. They will benefit more from the personal time with a live professional entertainer.
- The BO BO Show Guarantee: If you don't think the children enjoyed a performer from The BO BO Show, then we will give you your money back. Our performers get paid at the start of every show.
